While designing this home, the goal was to create a space that captures the essence of a treehouse while providing a comfortable, long-term retreat in a forested setting. The design sits lightly on a sloped, forested site and is supported by a custom steel frame, allowing the structure to extend out into the trees with minimal impact on the land and existing vegetation . The upper floor contains an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, with a cantilevered reading nook that offers a quiet outlook into the surrounding canopy. A generous deck projects from the main living space, encouraging connection with the outdoors and providing space to sit among the treetops. Two bedrooms are located on the lower level, tucked into the landscape for a more private, grounded experience. An outdoor shower is positioned discreetly among the trees, reinforcing the connection to nature. This compact two-storey home balances simplicity and lightness with a sense of quiet permanence. The layout is designed to support both daily living and moments of retreat, offering a calm space immersed in the forest.
